He was a lifelong resident of Rhinelander.
He attended elementary school at Zion Lutheran School and then graduated from the Rhinelander High School in 1979. He worked in sales for a number of beverage companies in the Northwoods until his retirement.
Jack married the former Shelly Steinhardt on May 3, 1986 and God blessed them with 37 years of marriage, their wonderful kids and grandkids.
Jack had the gift of gab which made him the "life of the party" wherever he went. He always had a contagious smile on his face. His house was an open door to all of his and his children's friends and family. He was an avid sports fan - Hodags, Bucks, Packers, Brewers and definitely a couch coach and referee. Jack supported all of his children and their love for sports. He enjoyed camping and watching his son, brother-in-law, and soon to be son-in-law at the racetrack winning races. More than anything Jack was most proud of his children's accomplishments and all of his grandchildren. His message to all: "be good"
Jack is survived by his wife Shelly, his children Katlynn (Michael Meister) Nelson, Jacob (Shannon) Nelson and Tyler (Cindy) Nelson, his grandchildren Henry, Ava, Nora and Lyla Nelson, his sister Lisa (Dave Sanderson) Beckley, his brothers Steve (Sarah) Nelson and Jake (Debbie) Nelson, his mother-in-law Barb Steinhardt, his sister-in-law Debbie Nelson, his brother-in-law Mark (Marjean Shoeder) Steinhardt, nieces, nephews, other family, his beloved dog Molly and his grand puppies Brio, Beatrice, Sherman, Remi and Randy and his many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Robert, his niece Amy Beckley and his father-in-law Dale Steinhardt.
