Organizers gearing up for Project North 2023

Project North, a collaborative music, art, and sustainability festival, will return to downtown Rhinelander on Sept. 15 and 16. Now in its third year, Project North continues to grow and offers a diverse music lineup, interactive art workshops, sustainable and eco-friendly practices, family friendly events, food trucks and more, organizers said in a press release.

The Project North 2023 music lineup will be announced during a special Northwoods Cafe program on WXPR Public Radio on Wednesday, April 5 at 6 p.m. The program will feature music from this year's festival performers, giving listeners a preview of the wide range of musical genres and styles coming to Project North in 2023.

Listeners can hear the music lineup announcement via livestream at wxpr.org, on the WXPR mobile app, on smart speakers, and on the radio at 91.7 FM in a 70-mile radius around Rhinelander, at 91.9 FM WXPW in Wausau, and at 100.9 FM in Ironwood, Mich.

In 2023, Project North will be hosted by presenting partners ArtStart Rhinelander and WXPR Public Radio, and the Midwest Renewable Energy Association (MREA) will join the Rhinelander Area Chamber of Commerce as a supporting partner. Established in 1990, MREA promotes renewable energy, energy efficiency, and sustainable living through education and demonstration.

As a Project North partner, MREA will support the sustainability programming for the festival. Recycling Connections will also assist with coordinating the waste management and composting for the project this year helping the event meet its goal of being a near zero waste event, the release states.

Returning in 2023 will be the WOW Mobile Metal Lab, the 10 second film festival, multiple stages of music, multiple food trucks, craft beers and many family-friendly activities. New art installations & activities and video projections will be added this year as well as other hands-on activities.

Project North is made possible through funding from a Joint Effort Marketing (JEM) grant from the Wisconsin Department of Tourism and the Rhinelander Tourism & Marketing Committee.
