Sondra Lee "Sondie" Wilson, 83, of Rhinelander, passed away on Sunday, March 19, 2023, at Rennes Health & Rehab in Rhinelander with her loving husband by her side.

Sondie was born on October 11, 1939, to Odin Sivertsen and Violet (Parker) Sivertsen in Ashland.

She grew up in Ashland in the shadow of the iron ore docks on Lake Superior where many adventures were had. Sondie graduated from Ashland High School in 1957, where she met the love of her life, Archie McCray Wilson. Sondie married Archie on Nov. 22, 1958, they were blessed with 64 years of marriage and five sons.

Sondie and Archie moved many times before settling in Rhinelander in 1972. She worked at St. Mary's Hospital as a CNA in pediatrics and then the emergency room until her retirement in 1990. Sondie always treated her patients as she did her own family, with care and grace. Growing up on the shores of Lake Superior and spending countless days on Long Island instilled a lifelong passion for the beach and water. Once both Sondie and Archie retired, they wintered in Gulf Shores, Ala. enjoying the beach and ocean for 20 years, where friends and family were always welcome to visit and stay. Sondie was an active member of the First Congregational Church of Christ as a member of women's fellowship and helping with other areas of service. She was a volunteer and support person for the Blood Bank, Hospital Auxiliary, Meals on Wheels, and many other groups in the community. The love Sondie had for her family was immeasurable, and more than anything she loved spending time with them. Mostly, Sondie enjoyed spending time either hosting birthday and holiday celebrations or going on adventures. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Sondie is survived by her husband, Archie Wilson, her sons, John (Toni) Wilson, Thomas Wilson, Patrick (Jeanne) Wilson, Paul (Nadine) Wilson; she was Nana to nine grandchildren, James (Kristy) Wilson, David (Jackie) Wilson, Katherine (David) Pavlik, Jennifer (Tucker) Wilson-Cortright, Rebecca (Ryan Fourt) Wilson, Megan (Ben Opsal) Wagner, Elizabeth Wilson, Michael (Kelsey) Wilson and Daniel Wilson and 12 great-grandchildren, Dexter, Dimitri, Dahlila, Daisy, Danielle, Donovan, Broden, McCray, Parker, Olivia, Sullivan, Harper and a baby boy due in July. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Sharon (John) Sivertsen-Modrijan, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

Sondra was preceded in death by her son, Daniel Wilson, her brothers, John "Butch" Sivertsen and William "Bill" Sivertsen, her father, Odin Sivertsen, her mother, Violet Sivertsen, her stepmother, Margaret Sivertsen, her parents-in-law, Archie and Hulda Wilson.

The visitation for Sondie will take place on Saturday April 1, 2023, at 10 a.m., at the First Congregational United Church of Christ, 135 E. Larch St. Rhinelander, followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m. with a luncheon to follow.

A private burial will take place at a later date at Mount Hope Cemetery in Ashland.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Hildebrand Funeral Home & Cremation Specialists, 24 E. Davenport Street, Rhinelander, Wisconsin, 54501, 715-365-4343. Everyone is invited to sign the guestbook or leave an online condolence at www.hildebrandrussfh.com.
