Mayor, city administrator to meet the public at town hall meeting
Refreshments will be served, according to a press release announcing the event.
The meeting is the latest in a series of outreach efforts conducted by various city departments.
In January, new public works director Randy Myrum met with the public at ArtStart to answer questions about snow plowing and other public works services and late last month the fire department invited the public to the fire station to learn more about the day-to-day operations of the fire service.
Reagan, who most recently served as manager of the Village of Lake Odessa in Michigan, took over as city administrator on Feb. 6.
He succeeded former administrator Zach Vruwink who left City Hall in October 2022 to take a position with the League of Wisconsin Municipalities.
In his first administrator's report, delivered during the Feb. 27 council meeting, Reagan indicated his initial impressions of the city and its people have proven to be correct.
"I've met with a lot of people here over the last few weeks and everything I thought about Rhinelander was correct," he said during the meeting. "(There are) lots of people that care, lots of people that see better days ahead for Rhinelander and it's exciting to be a part of."
During the Feb. 13 City Council meeting, Hanus stated that the police department and city clerk's office are also expected to hold outreach events in the near future.
"We're looking every month to do something like this," Hanus said. "The goal of this is to be more transparent and to let the public speak and ask questions about how government is run outside of a forum like this."
Hanus is about to complete his first year in office. He was elected in April 2022, succeeding Chris Frederickson who did not run for re-election.
Outside of his mayoral duties, Hanus is the sole owner of KSH Property Services LLC, a small business focused on property management. He also recently opened Da Bar, which is located in the former Associated Bank building on Stevens Street.
A quorum of the City Council may also be present for the town hall meeting, according to the release.
