She was a graduate of Elcho High School class of 1956. After raising her family she attended Northcentral Technical College and graduated with a nursing degree in 1993. During her nursing career she was employed at Eastview Nursing Home in Antigo, Friendly Village of Rhinelander and St. Mary's Hospital in Rhinelander.
Erma was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church in Elcho, having served on the church council. She was also a member and past president of the Noetzelman-Boodry American Legion Auxiliary Post 377, Elcho.
She enjoyed volunteering, helping others and relaxing by her Koi pond. She was an avid gardener, loved swimming and will be missed by many.
Survivors include three daughters, Virginia (Brian) Ewert of Port Charlotte, Fla., Cindy (Dee) Nitecki of Elcho, and Sally (Al) Bargenquest of Lannon; six grandchildren, Samantha (Dan) Marshall, Allen Bargenquast, April (Cliff) Kwick, Katrina (Tom) Mckinnell, Randy Nitecki, and Nicole (Ken) Rhoe; 14 great-grandchildren, Willow and Sophia Marshall, William and Kat Nitecki, T.J. Nitecki, Austin (Alexis) Brubach, Alex (Deb) Brubach, Alisha, Kenny (Demi), Cody and Kiara Rhoe, Austin, Mason and Preston Mckinnell; two great-great-grandchildren, Ellie Marie Brubach and Miles Rohe; two sisters-in-law, Vera Tomlin and Ruth (Rick) Sosnovske; and brother-in-law, Charlie Scolley.
In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Elma, Emma, and Thelma; and four brothers, Marvin, Vernon, Adrian and Melvin.
A funeral service was held on Thursday, March 9, 2023 at 5 p.m. at St. Luke Lutheran Church in Elcho with Rev. Paul Radke officiating. Visitation was held from 3 to 5 p.m. at the church. Burial will take place in the spring in Kempster Lakeside Cemetery.
Memorials in Erma's name may be directed to St. Luke Lutheran Church or the Noetzelman-Boodrey American Legion Auxiliary.
