ArtStart spring exhibitions now open
In the glass gallery is "All Over the Place, Right Here," the first solo show at ArtStart from artist Wolfgang Ryan.
Ryan, a Rhinelander native and bricoleur, uses repurposed found objects in unexpected ways to create sculptures that amuse and confound the viewer, according to an ArtStart press release.
"Ryan's art seeks playful conversations with art history, popular culture, literature, mythology, and philosophy, with allusions to history and science," the release states. "With the objects on display in All Over the Place, Right Here, Ryan tackles everything from skateboarding to the multiverse and a few things in between."
"To Everything There is a Season," from Emily Donovan, is located in the Stevens Street Gallery. Donovan's exhibition represents a collection of places and outdoor moments while we revive and resurface in today's world, the release states.
"These are observations of and connections to nature and special places where we live in hope and harmony," the release states. "Paintings are created with handmade dyes and pigments from natural materials that tie them to the land. This process of making color is inspirational on multiple levels. Rhythms of our work, and activities that we do to prepare for seasonal changes are reflected upon in colors made only from nature."
The spring exhibitions will be available until May 7. In addition, the public is invited to the Spring Exhibition Reception from 5 to 7 p.m. March 25.
ArtStart galleries are open free to the public. Gallery hours are Thursday - Saturday 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
