White, South Alabama narrowly miss automatic NCAA tourney bid
White rattled out a deep game-tying 3-point attempt off the right wing with less than five seconds remaining as Louisiana won the game 71-66.
The Ragin' Cajuns hit two free throws after collecting the rebound off White's miss with 1.4 seconds to play.
White is 2018 RHS grad who had a decorated four-year career at Division-II Michigan Tech before moving to South Alabama as a graduate transfer. He played all 40 minutes in Monday night's championship game, finishing with six points and four rebounds.
Winning the Sun Belt Tournament was likely South Alabama's only path into the NCAA tournament. The Jaguars, who led 37-33 at halftime on Monday, were 19-16 overall on the season and were the eighth seed in the tournament with a 9-9 league mark.
White played in all 35 games in the regular season for the Jaguars, averaging 9.3 points and 3.9 rebounds per game while playing 31.7 minutes a contest.
