The Oneida County Land and Water conservation department announced the winners of its annual poster contest last Monday at the Oneida County Courthouse.

Oneida County conservationist Michele Sadauskas spoke about the contest, which is one of two poster contests the department holds. The other is an invasive species contest held in the spring.

The theme of this poster contest was "One Water." Sadauskas said it was interesting to see all of the posters and to learn what that concept meant to each of the students who entered the contest.

"I do want to send a great big thank you out to a few people here," she said.

She thanked the judges master naturalist Marcia Obukowicz, WDNR water resources specialist Sandy Wickman and Natural Resources Conservation Service district conservationist Michael Stinebrink.

According to a School District of Rhinelander press release, students brainstormed ideas on what images could be used to help them draw out this theme. Work started on a 12-by-18-inch sheet of tag board. Then, student creativity, along with their drawing skills and use of art elements, guided them along the way.

Student posters were due just after Thanksgiving. The following students received recognition for their posters.

Sadauskas thanked parents and teachers who support the kids in the contest as well as the kids, who all worked hard on their posters again this year.
