NA3HL's Helena Bighorns tender Rhinelander's Jake Losch
"I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to play for the Bighorns next year under Coach (Damon) Hanson," Losch stated in a press release from the Bighorns. "I'm excited to join a program with a reputation of success and I look forward to bringing value to our locker room in any way I can. I have high hopes for our team and cannot wait to get out to Helena."
Losch was part of Rhinelander's 2020-21 Great Northern Conference co-champion squad that advanced to the sectional finals of the WIAA Division 2 boys' hockey tournament. He tallied 17 goals and 16 assists for the Hodags that season, and had 28 goals and 28 assists overall for in a three-year high school hockey career.
"We are excited about the signing of Jake Losch for this upcoming season," Hanson stated. "Jake comes from a great high school program and is well coached. Jake is a strong skater who is always around the puck. He is sure going to help us offensively, a strong kid that works extremely hard every shift, with a high hockey IQ, something you can't teach."
Helena has been a popular landing spot for former Rhinelander High School hockey players over the last several seasons. Losch's class of 2021 teammate, Harlan Wojtusik, has spent three seasons with the Bighorns and tallied 26 goals and 26 assists last season. Abe Laggis and Conor Pequet also have played for Helena in the past five seasons.
The Bighorns went a combined 42-10-1-2 last year in the regular season and playoffs, advancing to the Fraser Cup semifinals.
