Karen was a long-time resident of the Sugar Camp and Eagle River areas before moving to Negaunee, Michigan to be with her partner Gary.
Karen was born in Chicago, Ill. on Oct. 4, 1964, to Rosalie and Arthur Pritchard. In her early childhood, the family moved to Eagle River. She'd often let her kids know that the house they moved into didn't have running water and had an outhouse.
Karen is survived by her partner of 7 years, Gary Hagerman, her 6 children, numerous grandchildren, brother, sisters, nieces and nephews.
Karen was preceded in death by her mother Rose, her father Art, and her brother Larry.
Throughout her life, Karen had owned her own hair salon, co-owned a salon with her long-time friend JoAnne Modjewski and was also employed as an EMT for Eagle River and Phelps ambulance services. Most recently, through her independent cleaning and organizing services, she made long-lasting impressions, connections, and great new friendships.
Karen's children were her world, and she had a very active role in their lives. This was evident to anyone who knew her. Her world grew even brighter when grandchildren started to fill her life. Karen absolutely lived for her grandchildren and would do anything for them. Day trips to Eagle River and Appleton from the Marquette area were never out of the question. She'd also have unplanned week-long visits to her kids.
Her love for animals was clear to anyone who knew her. She spoiled her dogs and cats (and later chickens) as if they were her own children.
After moving to Michigan, Karen had a newfound love for the hobby of raising chickens, bird watching, traveling the UP, visiting Gary's family in Montana and she and Gary had begun camping adventures.
A celebration of Karen's life is set for Friday, June 23, 2023. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. with the service starting at 1p.m.
