County land and water department announces field day
The free tour will take registered participants to a variety of sites that have already been restored, are in the planning phase or ones the county hopes to help restore, according to a press release announcing the event.
"We will begin at the Courthouse Garden on Baird Avenue with a brief welcome and announcements before leading participants throughout the county in their own vehicles," the release states. "The tour will continue on to a completed Wisconsin River Project, then to a Stream Crossing showing multiple areas of concern. We will stop for lunch at the Newbold Memorial Park, then continue the tour by traveling to a Sand Lake completed project, a Lake Nokomis completed project, and wrap up at a proposed Bridge Lake project. To see more details about each stop on the tour, click on the Field Day Schedule and Field Day Map at https://www.oclw.org/special-projects.html."
Participants are asked to register in advance, bring their own sack lunch, dress appropriately for the weather, and wear comfortable, sturdy shoes. The tour will take place rain or shine. In case of severe weather, cancellation e-mails will be sent directly to registrants only. You may come to as many or as few locations as you want. Tour directors will do their best to arrive at each site on time and will not start earlier than scheduled times.
Register early at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/site-restoration-field-day-tickets-609766968417. Space is limited. Registration closes on Monday, June 26. Specific site locations and addresses will be sent directly to tour registrants one week prior to the tour.
