Sylvester "Red" Williams
He was born on July 30, 1945, in Rhinelander, the son of Alfred and Valerie (Wilson) Williams.
He attended schools in Rhinelander, graduating from Rhinelander High School. After his schooling he served with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam war. Upon his honorable discharge he returned to Rhinelander and worked for the Feed Store, Eckert Wrecking and then for Wisconsin Laborers Local 268.
He retired in 2006.
He married the former Gloria Minder on January 14, 1966 and she preceded him in death on June 1, 2019.
They were married for over 53 years. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting, fishing and watching his son David race at the local tracks.
Red is survived by his son David, his sisters Ethel Shaltis, Mary Ronning and Lorena Lund, his brother Kenneth Williams, his half sister Ada Rich, his brother and sister-in-law Donald and Theresa Minder, nieces, nephews, other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Gloria on June 1, 2019, his sisters Sylvia and Darlene and his brothers Elton and Ronnie.
Graveside services for Red will be held on Friday, June 16, 2023 at 2 p.m. at the Newbold Memorial Cemetery. You may leave your private condolences for the Williams family at www.carlsonfh.com.
