Manifest mendacity
Dear Gregg and Richard, Seemingly, your desire to deride Judge Mary Roth Burns ignites my editorial propensities. Because the last time that I felt feverishly compelled to respond to one of your predictable rants was about a year ago. It was targeted at the same woman, whom I suspect is not nearly as malevolent as you suggest. I say "suspect" because, truthfully, I don't have an intimate knowledge of what motivates her since we are not intimate friends. So your exhortation on 6/2/23 that she "Please leave our county and never come back' may have some merit. I say "may" because truthfully I think that it doesn't have any merit, but as you so perceptively stated then, one must not make a "sweeping proclamation with not a shred of evidence."
So I'll just leave it thusly; I have a massive gut feeling that your exhortation has no merit. Anyway, lest you think that I was planning to argue that your conclusions as to her intellectual and judicial competence were juvenile and childishly political, I am not. What I would like to take issue with is your manifest mendacity. Because I'm convinced that you don't really want her to move away, not yet at least. You would be saddened if she were to move away immediately. You would lose one of your current favorite targets for abuse. And that would sadden you. Because, let's be honest, you get off on ranting about and belittling people who don't agree with you. And here I do have at least a shred of evidence because I've observed it time and time and time again (a lot of times!) over more years than I care to count. So, at the very least you don't want her to move away (I suspect you're secretly salivating at the prospect that she'll be appointed as the replacement for Judge Schiek as district attorney) until her elected successor, Judge Schiek, can do something that doesn't suit you.
Then you can take aim at him and you no longer have a need to castigate Judge Burns to assuage your lust for vilifying. Judge Schiek will then fit the bill (fresh meat for your insatiable appetite to denigrate) quite nicely. Fortunately, I'm confident that Judge Schiek is well aware of and prepared for the treatment that he can expect if he ever makes a ruling contrary to the biumvirate that constitutes the editorial board of The Northwoods River News. He's already experienced more than his share of your pestilence in his most recent role as a public servaent.
P.S. Please don't change anything in your sports department. I love that section of the paper. Even when the Hodags struggle it provides a pleasant counterbalance to the editorial content of the paper.
