Janet was born in Rhinelander, on July 12, 1938, to William and Leona (Schultz) Zoncki. She was raised in Rhinelander, attending St. Mary's Catholic Grade School and Rhinelander High School. She was united in marriage on August 24, 1963, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church to Joseph Bruso whom she knew since grade school. They continued to live in Rhinelander until 1985 when Janet, Joseph and two of their children moved to Atlanta, Georgia. They lived in Atlanta until 1992 when she and Joe moved back to Newbold.
Janet had been employed with Paremski's Greenhouse, waitressed at the Greyhound Grille, employed in the meat department at the Rhinelander A & P and while living in Atlanta Janet had been employed as a shipping supervisor with Alexander Seewald Auto Parts Distribution.
Janet enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, camping, especially in the Upper Peninsula, hummingbird and bird watching and taking adventurous road trips with Joe.
The most important part of Janet's life was her family, she loved them dearly and took great pride in their accomplishments, especially the grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She will be dearly missed by her loving husband, Joe, of almost 60 years, her five children, Andy (Joan) of Rhinelander, Mark (Cindy), of Avon, Ind., Laurie of Tomahawk, Chris (Elsa) of Hazelhurst, Cathy of Tomahawk, 10 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, one brother, David (Barbara) of Columbus, Georgia, and a sister-in-law, Ruth of Reno, Nevada. Also surviving are nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Janet is preceded in death by her parents, William, and Leona, two brothers, Bill, and Larry, and by a grandson, Andrew Jr. in 1988.
The visitation for Janet will be held on Friday, June 16, 2023, at the Hildebrand Funeral Home from 2:30 p.m. until the 4 p.m. memorial service. Kelly Consolver will officiate.
