WXPR Public Radio to celebrate 40 years with a free community concert
This family-friendly event will feature live music from funk and jam band New Salty Dog, as well as food and ice cream trucks, a beverage tent, and a standup paddleboard raffle courtesy of Chequamegon Adventure Company, organizers said in a press release.
Proceeds from beverage and raffle ticket sales will benefit WXPR Public Radio and support for this project was provided by the Rhinelander Community Foundation.
WXPR has been broadcasting from its studios in Rhinelander since noon on April 24, 1983. The station airs award-winning local news, NPR news, and 70+ hours of locally hosted music per week in a wide variety of genres, including polka, bluegrass, blues, classic country, jazz, classical, and more. WXPR exists to inform, entertain, and engage our community; enrich lives with music, information, and interaction; and build positive lasting relationships, the release states.
The station can be heard at 91.7fm in a 70-mile radius of Rhinelander, with extended service to Ironwood, Mich. via translator at 100.9fm, and through a shared transmitter in Wausau at 91.9fm WXPW. WXPR can also be heard via livestream at wxpr.org, on smart speakers, and on the free WXPR Public Radio mobile app.
