Oneida County 4-H to host art and theater programs for youth
Registration can be done online at https://oneida.extension.wisc.edu or by calling 715-365-2750.
Two professional actor/directors from the Missoula Children's Theater Company will arrive in Rhinelander, along with a set, lights, costumes, and props - everything it takes to put on a musical - except the cast, according to a 4-H press release. The team holds an open audition and casts up to 50 area students to perform.
The show is rehearsed throughout the week and one public performance will be presented at 1 p.m. on June 24 at the middle school.
Youth Summer Art Program
Youth entering grades 1-4 may participate in the Youth Summer Art Program June 19-24 at James Williams Middle School. Youth will create art projects and explore water-themed environmental education topics. On Saturday, youth will have the opportunity to show off their art creations to the public, which will help set the scene for "The Little Mermaid" Youth Summer Theater Program performance.
Registration is available at https://oneida.extension.wisc.edu or by calling 715-365-2750. According to Anne Williams, Oneida County 4-H Educator, these programs offer opportunities for youth to try something new, meet new friends, and build life skills such as communication, cooperation, creativity, and persistence. Students from public, private, or homeschools are welcome to participate.
"For youth and teens, participating can help boost self-esteem and confidence," Williams said. "This is a chance for young people to have an 'I did it!' moment, challenge themselves, be with other people who might share their interests, and have fun."
