Rhinelander Fourth of July Parade route to remain the same
A story published in our Friday, June 2 edition reported that the route had been modified this year.
According to the new information, organizers have decided to revert to the original route.
"Due to the construction to the east of Stevens Street, the parade committee in collaboration with the city, decided that the parade route will not change for 2023," the River News was advised via email Friday morning.
The theme this year will be "Salute to our Troops."
The main parade will begin at 11 a.m. Monday, July 4.
Units of interest will include the Rhinelander High School Band, Rhinelander Community Band, Seymour High School Band, Pipes and Drums of Thunder Bay, Zor Funsters and Janesville Fife & Drum.
Applications are available now, through the Rhinelander Area Chamber of Commerce, for groups and organizations interested in participating in the parade.
The committee is also seeking antique, new or just plain sharp cars or trucks to lead sponsored units.
Awards will be given for entries in the following categories: Non-Profit, Business, Marching and General.
The kiddie parade will start at 10 a.m. with lineup set for 9:30 a.m. at Zion Lutheran School on Frederick Street.
Donations for the fireworks or parade can be sent to parade coordinator Dale Schlieve at 312 Conro St., Rhinelander, WI 54501.
Make checks payable to DRI or Rhinelander Chamber Commerce.
For more information about the main parade, call or email Schlieve at 715-369-1814 or [email protected].
For more information about the kiddie parade, call Tim Gengler at 715-490-2470.
The Veterans Ceremony organization is also applying for a F16 flyover during the parade, it was noted.
Last year, a F16 flyover was canceled as the result of weather conditions.
