Otto was raised in Antigo, attending schools there and graduating from Antigo High School in 1952. After his schooling he served his country as a member of the U.S. Army during the Korean War. After his honorable discharge he married the love of his life, Beverly Pratt, on April 16, 1955. God blessed them with 68 years of marriage and a family he was very proud of. They moved to Rhinelander after their marriage and Otto went to work for the Rhinelander Paper Company as a machinist. He was with the mill for over 44 years before retiring in 1999. After his retirement he worked for some of the local car dealerships as a driver for a number of years.
Otto was a longtime member of the Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening, especially his berry patch. He could fix anything, and he loved working on cars. He and Beverly were fortunate enough to travel to many locations which included numerous national parks. And of course, he was a big Green Bay Packer fan.
Otto is survived by his wife Beverly, his children Tom (Mary) Ottman, Debby (Kevin Karpf) Ottman, Gary (Dawn) Ottman, Suanne (Billy) Kinross, and Sherry Ottman, his grandchildren Jessica, Gabe, Michael, Aaron, Ben, Tom, Mike, Sonja, Craig, Melissa, Brenden, Samantha, Lauren, Sarah, Michael, Ryan, Adam, Tanya, Taylyn, and Kristine, his 12 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his son Robert Ottman, his parents, his granddaughter Leah Ottman, his sisters Norma, Carla and Lou and his brothers Cletus, James, George and Leo.
Visitation for Otto will be from 10 a.m. to noon with a Mass of Christian Burial following at noon, on Thursday, June 8, 2023, at the Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church.
Father Chris Kemp will officiate. Interment will follow in the Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Cemetery. You may leave your private condolences for the Ottman family at www.carlsonfh.com.
