Ruth L. Lund

Ruth L. Lund, age 96, of Rhinelander, passed away on July 25, 2023, at her daughter's home, with her family at her side.

She was born on Aug. 15, 1926 in Rhinelander, the daughter of John and Petronella Belski. She was a lifelong lover, protector and caretaker of her families farm and all the birds and animals that lived there. 

When she wasn't caring for her wildlife, she was tending to her flower gardens.

Ruth's family immigrated from Lithuania to the Rhinelander area and began the family dairy farm. Ruth married Wayne Lund, the love of her life, on Aug. 2, 1952 in Rhinelander and they continued operating the dairy farm for most of their 50-plus years of marriage. After their retirement they continued living on the farm until Wayne's death on Nov. 4, 2005.

Ruth is survived by her daughter Maggie (Patrick) Steffen, her son Jim Lund, her granddaughter Farrah (Tiffany) Lund and her great-granddaughter, Joslyn. In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Joseph Belski.

Ruth and her family truly appreciated the caring dedication and friendship they received from Aspirus Hospice, in particular Jen, Judy and Sarah.

A Celebration of Life for Ruth will be held on Monday, July 31, 2023, from 4 to 6 p.m., at The Pines Event Center in Rhinelander. Interment will be in the Forest Home Cemetery.
