Invasive Species Road Show July 28 at pollinator garden

Are you wondering if a plant in your yard is native, invasive or beneficial to pollinators? Do you have purple loosestrife on your property that you can’t get rid of? Are you curious if the snails along your shoreline are harmful or invasive? Wonder no longer! Bring a fresh sample or images of your suspect to the Invasive Species Roadshow to be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Friday, July 28, at the Oneida County courthouse pollinator garden along South Baird Avenue in Rhinelander.

A team of experts from the Oneida County land and water conservation department will identify your submission and provide guidance in invasive species management, so you can take back your yard or protect your lake, according to a press release announcing the event.

Invasive plants, insects, animal species and diseases are the foremost threat to native species and ecosystems in woodlands, wetlands, waterbodies and neighborhoods.

When it comes to conservation and preventing the spread of aquatic and terrestrial invasive species, the more you know, the more you can make a difference, the release states.

“Join us for this free event, see samples of non-native species, receive free educational material and tour the pollinator garden. No appointment necessary, the release states.

For more information on the invasive species road show, call Stephanie Boismenue, Oneida County aquatic invasive species coordinator and conservation technician, at 715-369-7835.
