Single engine aircraft crash lands at Eagle River airport

A single engine airplane crash landed Tuesday afternoon, July 18, at the Eagle River airport.

According to a press release from the Eagle River police department, the pilot and one passenger were transported to Ascension Memorial Hospital “for suspected injuries” and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources was notified of fuel spillage from the aircraft.

Eagle River police chief Christine Dobbs told The Lakeland Times the aircraft ended up pancaked, or upside down. The two occupants were able to get out and walk away from the plane before receiving medical attention.

The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board will investigate the incident.
