River Monsters rained out on Wednesday
The Rhinelander River Monsters’ game at Marshfield was postponed Wednesday due to rain.
The decision was made by the Chaparrals at approximately 4:30 p.m., just as members of the team were departing Rhinelander for the 7:15 p.m. contest. A make-up date had not been announced as of press time for today’s edition.
Rhinelander (7-3, 6-3 Dairyland Large) defeated Everest 4-0 in a rain-shortened game Sunday. A full report will be published in Friday's River News. The River Monsters will travel to Whittlesey next Sunday, July 23.
BMX Olympian Nic Long to host Rhinelander clinic
The Hodag BMX club announced on its Facebook page last week that former U.S. Olympian Nic Long will host a clinic at the Hodag BMX track Tuesday, Aug. 22.
“A Clinic with the Captain,” will be held from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. According to the post announcing the clinic, topics covered will include tips and techniques for starting gates, first straights, turns, passing, racing skill and race strategy.
Long, a San Diego native, competed in the 2012 Summer Olympics in London and the 2016 Olympics in Rio.
Cost for the event is $50 per rider and capacity is limited to 30 riders. Participants will receive a complementary goodie bag. Visit the Hodag BMX Club’s Facebook page for more details and a link to online registration.
