Recital to highlight the Casavant Frères pipe organ

At 4 p.m. Saturday, July 29, the First Congregational U.C.C. in Rhinelander will welcome acclaimed organ player Destin Wernicke back for another not-to-be-missed concert.

Wernicke, a Green Bay native and graduate of Pulaski High School, has played piano and percussion from an early age.

During his Jazz Percussion bachelor’s degree at the University of North Texas, Wernicke was the drummer for the Grammy-nominated One O’Clock Lab Band, where he worked with several accomplished artists and released an album. He is now pursuing a Graduate Artist Certificate in Organ Performance. Recently, The Diapason, a well-known national organ journal, recognized Wernicke’s achievements, including him in a list of “20 organists under 30” who are making a name for themselves in the church music world. He has won prizes in several organ competitions in the past two years. The First Congregational U.C.C. is located at 135 East Larch Street in Rhinelander.
