RDL announces literacy initiative
The Rhinelander District Library and Wisconsin Literacy are asking for the public’s help in establishing a literacy organization in the Rhinelander area.
“Did you know that, according to Wisconsin Literacy and the National Center for Education Statistics, 1 in 7 Wisconsin adults struggle with low literacy?” organizers said in a press release. “The goal of the Rhinelander Literacy Initiative is to empower adults in the Rhinelander area by working with volunteers to provide individualized, one-to-one tutoring. Volunteer opportunities may include, in addition to tutoring students, tutor training, communications and records management, board membership, project coordination, and event coordination. Whether you’d like to contribute to the community, develop new skills, meet like-minded individuals, or find your purpose, there is a place for every volunteer.”
