Modic to step down as executive director of Frederick Place
By River News Staff-
Modic announced her plans in a letter read to the NATH executive committee during its Jan. 12 meeting.
"I am writing this letter to the community, our donors, volunteers, and friends to announce my resignation as the Executive Director for NATH - Frederick Place," Modic wrote. "After 12 years of helping to lead this wonderful organization I have chosen to use my strengths to move my family to the Knoxville, Tenn. area."
Frederick Place, a 16-bed emergency, temporary shelter in Rhinelander for people experiencing homelessness, opened its doors on Jan. 31, 2011 with Modic overseeing day-to-day operations.
According to the letter, Modic's last day with NATH will be Feb. 12.
"This message may come as a surprise to many but know that I did not make this decision lightly and I truly feel I have made a difference in our community in the time I have called Rhinelander home," she wrote.
"It has been an honor to lead NATH - Frederick Place and to serve those experiencing homelessness," she added. "I am so proud of all that we have accomplished, and I am confident NATH - Frederick Place is well poised to continue to have a great impact in our community for a long time to come. Thank you to everyone who has supported the shelter over the years. Please continue to support NATH - Frederick Place and the incredible efforts they will uphold. I know there is someone else out there who will keep working to make this organization an even more important part of our community. I will forever hold a place in my heart for the mission of NATH - Frederick Place and all that I gained from my time here."
Modic's full letter is printed on Page 5 as a letter to the editor.
