The Park City Cares Foundation recently donated $2,429 to the Rhinelander Fab Lab.

According to Michael Wojtusik, Technology, Engineering and Manufacturing Fab Lab Director, the funds will be used to purchase a Makerbot Replicator and 3D printer and filament for the Fab Lab, which is located in Rhinelander High School.

The grant award is part of the Park City Cares Foundation's ongoing efforts to support STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) programs in the community, according to a press release announcing the donation.

The Park City Cares Foundation also donated $1,200 to Lincoln County 4H to strengthen its program and offer students more opportunities to learn, the release notes.

The Foundation is connected to Park City Credit Union, and it aims to enhance the community by providing opportunities for financial literacy and educational growth. One way in which the Foundation achieves this mission is by offering scholarship and grant opportunities to students and community-based projects.

To date, the Foundation has awarded $2,500 in scholarships to high school students in the area.

In November, the Foundation granted $3,400 to the STEM Center at Northcentral Technical College to fund a desktop CNC machine. The STEM Center at Northcentral Technical College is a hands-on learning space that features advanced technology, collaborative learning spaces, 3D printing, a science lab and Nanotechnology. This new CNC machine gives younger students the ability to manufacture projects without having to travel to larger labs.

Park City Cares Foundation President Jack Mikunda commented, "We look forward to hearing how the desktop CNC machine brings awareness and strengthens the STEM programs in our community."

To be considered for a grant or scholarship from the Foundation, interested individuals can go to parkcitycu.org/park-city-cares-foundation to submit an application.

Individuals can also join the Foundation on their webpage by applying and making a minimum donation of $5. The Foundation notes that the "financial contributions and volunteer hours donated by our Foundation members and community partners" are what makes their mission possible.
