Dennis Edward Thimm
Dennis was born in Milwaukee on April 28, 1940, to Horace "Ed" and Ardella (Bennett) Thimm. He was a 1958 graduate of Messmer High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1958, serving his country as a Communication Specialist until retiring in 1985.
Throughout his military career Dennis had lived in Vietnam, Scotland, Alaska, England, and Germany. Upon retiring, from the Air Force, Dennis lived in Detroit, Mich. working for EDS. He later transferred to Dallas Texas working there for seven years. He then moved to the Northwoods of Wisconsin in 1995 and retired.
He was united in marriage to Anne S. Aikten on Sept. 12, 1964, at St. David's church in Dalkeith, Scotland. Anne passed away on May 16, 1988.
He attended Holy Family Catholic Church in Woodruff for many years.
He was a member of the Lake Tomahawk American Legion Post #318.
Dennis enjoyed coin collecting, golfing, and traveling.
Surviving are his sons, Robert (Shannon) Thimm of New Braunfels, Texas, and David Thimm of Rhinelander; four grandchildren, Stephany (John) Nasr of Phoenix, Ariz., Scott Thimm of Tucson, Ariz., Ashley Thimm of Biloxi, Miss., and Gavin Thimm of Rhinelander, one great-grandson, Matthew Nasr; siblings, Myrtes Burlingame, Mike (Lily) Thimm, Janet Doheny, Andy (Rene) Thimm, Joey (Debbie) Thimm, and Ed (Terry) Thimm; brother-in-law, Gary Bradshaw, and a special nephew, Malcom Lean of London.
Also surviving are nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Dennis is preceded in death by his parents, wife, brothers, Nick (Kathy) Thimm and Louis Thimm, and a sister, Betty Bradshaw.
The visitation for Dennis will take place on Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2023, at Holy Family Catholic Church, located at 8950 County Hwy J, Woodruff, from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial. Fr. Jerry Hagen will officiate.
Immediately following the mass, there will be a procession to Wilderness Rest Cemetery for the committal service. Following the committal service, military honors will be conducted by the Lake Tomahawk American Legion Post #318 and by two representatives from the United States Air Force.
