John started his career at the Rhinelander Paper Mill immediately after high school and worked there until his retirement at age 55. The reason for his retirement was to take care of Mary Jo when she became ill.
John loved many activities which included singing, playing guitar, ice fishing, cross country skiing, trail riding on horseback, golf, and gardening. His love for gardening was started as a kid working at his parent's floral shop/nursery. John loved spending time with his family most of all, he loved family get-togethers and just loved being around people.
He is survived by his daughter Michelle (Frank) Pyrchalla, sons Dennis (Debbie) Wittrock, John (Laura) Wittrock, and Kevin Wittrock; grandchildren Alexis, Tyanna, Cole, Nicholas, Joseph, Jaclyn, and Julianna, and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Mary Jo, son Jeff and grandson, Steven.
There will be no services at this time for John. You may leave your private condolences for the Wittrock family at www.carlsonfh.com. The Carlson Funeral Home (715)369-1414 is handling the arrangements for the family.
