Ed was born on Feb. 29, 1944, in Rhinelander, to Everett and Hazel (Smith) Jenkins. He was married to Suzanne Joy Helgeson on Jan. 25, 1969. She preceded him in death on Dec. 13, 2022. Ed was a logger for most of his life (he began logging the "old-fashioned way", with his brothers Red and Bob, and his Belgium horse, Mike). He also worked at Concrete Products for several years before his retirement. Ed was well known for his kindness and big heart. He would have given anyone the shirt off his back and he never turned his back to a stranger in need. He was a true earth Angel.
Some of his favorite pastimes included fishing, hunting, camping, working on cars and chainsaws, and he cherished time spent with his family and friends. He also loved spending time with his two granddaughters. He was always so proud of his girls!
Ed is survived by his three children: Angela Jenkins, Rhinelander; Tracy (John) Benaszeski, Tomahawk and Edward Jenkins, Rhinelander; his two granddaughters, Shelby Benaszeski and Cadee Benaszeski; his sister, Margie Melby; his brothers-in-law Terry (Phyllis) Helgeson, Steve (Kari) Helgeson, Mike Helgeson, Dan (Anne) Helgeson; his sisters-in-law Diane (Dave) Faldet and Trudy Jenkins; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by both of his parents, Everett and Hazel Jenkins; his father and mother in-law, Raymond and Arlene Helgeson; his sisters Delores, Beulah, Linda, Lorraine, and Rosie; and his brothers Sonny and Bob.
In accordance with Ed's wishes, no formal service will be held. A private family burial will take place in the spring and he will be laid to rest with his wife, Sue.
