A trio of eighth graders led the way for the Hodag girls. Lucy Eddy was 10th overall, covering the roughly 3-kilometer classic course in 13 minutes, 11.6 seconds. Mya Gillen was 13th (13:35.9) and Kali Skubal finished 19th (14:19.5). Fifth grader Kelsie Skubal was 51st (17:19.7) and sixth grader Noelle Mayo was 54th (17:54.0).
"It would be hard to ignore Lucy Eddy getting a top-10 finish on the middle school girls' team," coach Dave Slette said. "We're talking about a very, very strong athlete, whose skin just gets better every year. She brings such a great attitude, it's nice to see her get some success out there."
Seventh grader Aaron Calhoun paced the middle school boys, taking 20th overall with a time of 12:47.9. Eighth grader Jonathan Calhoun was 22nd (13:04.1) followed by seventh grader Austen Slette in 24th (13:18.9), seventh grader Douglas Hartmann in 34th (14:42.8) and sixth grader Samuel Loomis in 52nd (16:21.4).
"Aaron Calhoun really put his motor out on the course today and double poled most of the course to great effect," coach Slette noted.
