Richard was born in Tomahawk, on Jan. 22, 1947, to Orville A. and Hilma C. (Kotila) Turgeon Sr. The family moved to Rhinelander in 1956. He was drafted in 1969 and served in the U.S. Army where he was stationed in Germany during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged from the Army in 1971. He then came back to Rhinelander and was employed at Blackwell Job Corps as an Instructor.
He married Deborah Warren and the couple had three children. He was employed with St. Mary's Hospital where he worked for over 20 years in Environmental Services.
He enjoyed watching Green Bay Packers games and spending time at the Turgeon Camp on Lake Superior. But most of all, Richard loved being with his family especially his grandsons.
He will be dearly missed by his children, Katie (Jesse) Achterberg of Harshaw, Jake Turgeon of Rhinelander, and Elizabeth Turgeon of Rhinelander; four grandsons, Micah, Liam, Wyatt, and Nolan Achterberg; siblings, Adrian (Ila) Turgeon of Rhinelander, and Mary Peters of Weston. Also surviving are nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Orville (Gloria) Turgeon, Patricia (Terry) Hauser, and brother-in-law, Harold Peters.
A Celebration of Life for Richard and inurnment at the Northwoods National Cemetery will take place at a later date.
