Oneida County Humane Society benefits from RHS 'miracle minute' fundraiser
"The week is filled with dress-up days, different activities, and this year ended with the SnowBall dance," according to a school district press release. "One of the activities during the week is a miracle minute, in which all money collected goes to a local charity. This year the FBLA/DECA officer team wanted to give the funds to the Oneida County Humane Society."
The miracle minute took place on Monday, Jan. 23 during flex time. For one minute, teachers passed around envelopes in their homeroom classes.
The FBLA/DECA officers then collected the envelopes and counted the money that was collected.
A total of $225 was collected from the students and staff during the minute.
Miracle minutes are also held during sporting events and other activities throughout the school year. On Tuesday, Feb. 7 the FBLA/DECA officer team presented the money that was collected from the miracle minute to the Humane Society.
"We would like to thank everyone who donated money to the miracle minute," the release states.
