Shanelle Saunders Conservation Education Coordinator from the U.S. Forest Service based in Ironwood, Mich., recently visited the fifth-grade students at Northwoods Community Elementary School in Harshaw. Saunders assisted students in their final tasks for being certified as Junior Snow Rangers for the U.S. Forest Service. According to a School District of Rhinelander press release, the Junior Snow Ranger program teaches students about protecting the environment, outdoor safety during the winter months, and being prepared to help others when needed. Students interviewed Ms. Saunders, asked questions about her work, and toured the NCES Nature Trail together.
