Margaret “Peggy” Ann Funk

Margaret "Peggy" Ann Funk, age 90, of Rhinelander, died on Sunday, December 17, 2023, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. 

She was born on April 23, 1933.

Peggy attended schools in Monico and Three Lakes where she graduated from the Three Lakes High School in 1951. She married Gene Funk on September 7, 1956, in Wausau, and God blessed them with over 67 years of marriage. They moved to Rhinelander in 1960 and have lived here since. Peggy was employed as a bus driver for both Martin's and Schilleman's bus companies until her retirement.

Peggy was a longtime member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Rhinelander. She enjoyed all kinds of puzzles and crossword puzzles, feeding the birds and squirrels, knitting, traveling, especially to Alaska, fishing and playing cards with family and friends. She volunteered at the St. Mary's Hospital gift shop for years and participated in bowling leagues for many years. She really enjoyed watching her kids and grandkids in the sports they participated in and she was a huge Wisconsin sports fan — Badgers, Packers, Brewers and Bucks.

Peggy is survived by her husband Gene, her sons David (Nancy) Funk and Dean (Jill) Funk, her grandchildren Nicole (Tyler) Loftus, Colton, Derek (Tessa) Funk, Connor and Carson and her great-grandchildren, Jackson and Ava. She was preceded in death by her son Darrin and her parents.
