Lake Tomahawk board adopts resolution supporting CAMA purchase

By TREVOR GREENE
Reporter

The Lake Tomahawk town board on Dec. 13 adopted a resolution supporting municipalities’ purchase of computer-assisted mass appraisal (CAMA) software.

Town chairman George DeMet said town assessor Jef Muelver brought the issue to the board’s attention.

“The software that assessors have been using, the price has been increasing over the last couple of years so that it’s got pretty exorbitant,” DeMet said. “And he is with a group of other assessors who are trying to get that to be publicly owned by the municipalities instead of a private outfit.”

DeMet expressed his support, noting that the resolution the board passed essentially says that towns using the software shouldn’t be “beholden to some private outfit that just keeps jacking up the price.”

Other matters

In other business the board also:

• Approved a tourist rooming house permit which switched ownership between a father and daughter near West Bluebird Road.

• Approved the town’s poll workers list.
