RHS Sports recap: Monday, Dec. 18

Girls’ basketball: Wis. Rapids Assumption 60, Rhinelander 46

The RHS girls’ basketball team had the top-ranked team in Division 5 on the ropes for a while Monday night, but faded in the second half and fell to Wisconsin Rapids Assumption 60-46 in a non-conference contest at the Jim Miazga Community Gymnasium.

Rhinelander led by as many as 11 in the first half and took a 29-24 lead to halftime, but the Royals opened the second half on an 8-0 run to take the lead and finished the game on a 20-6 run after the teams were deadlocked at 40 with 10 1/2 minutes to play.

Aubryn Clark had 12 points for Rhinelander, but was held scoreless in the second half. Leah Jamison chipped in nine and Lily Treder had eight. Sarah Shaw led Assumption with 17 points while Anna Schooley had 15.

Rhinelander (6-3, 4-0 Great Northern) hosts Merrill on Thursday.
