Local church to host Blue Christmas service Dec. 21
The holidays can be a difficult time for many people. Sadness and loneliness can take over one’s life. The darkness that surrounds us can seem overwhelming.
December 21, the winter solstice, is the longest night of the year. It is on this date that communities come together to acknowledge the difficult days some experience, and offer support in “letting go” of our burdens.
To that end, St. Augustine’s Episcopal Church (39 S. Pelham St., Rhinelander) is holding its annual Blue Christmas service for those who are struggling, and those who want to be supportive of those carrying burdens.
This year’s Blue Christmas service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 21 at St. Augustine.
The service is sponsored by the Rhinelander Ministerial Association.
