Deane A. Volzka

Deane A. Volzka, age 80, of Rhinelander, died on Dec. 10, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on Sept. 25, 1943, in Elroy, the son of August and Jessie (Steffen) Volzka.

Deane is survived by his daughter Julie (Doug) Stone, his son Jim (Tracy) Volzka, his grandchildren Adam (Nicole) McGeshick, Nicholas (Kat) McGeshick, Megan Volzka, Alex Volzka, Dayne Stone, Nicole (Renato) Costa, Jennifer Stone, Jesse Stone, Brenna McBreen; 21 great-grandchildren, and his brothers Donald, Dale, and David.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth, his sister Janice, and his brother Darrell.

Deane moved to Madison after graduating from Elroy High School, where he met his wife Ruth, whom he had been married to for 54 years. Following their marriage, they moved to Rhinelander, where they both began working at the Rhinelander Paper Mill. Deane worked in the Data Processing Department for several years until his retirement.

Deane was an avid outdoorsman with a passion for hunting, fishing, and traveling. He also enjoyed playing pool, gardening, and spending time with his family and friends.
