RHS Sports recap: Tuesday, Dec. 12
Boys’ swimming: Rhinelander 107, Shawano/Seymour 43
The Rhinelander High School boys’ swim team won all 11 events, and had all nine of their swimmers contribute to at least one victory in a 107-43 victory on the road at Shawano/Seymour.
Brock Arrowood was Rhinelander’s lone four-event winner on the night. He took the 200 freestyle, the 100 freestyle and was on the winning 200 freestyle and 400 freestylerelays.
Senior Zacha King also claimed a pair of individual events for Rhinelander. He scored the win in the 50 freestyle and added a win in the 100 breaststroke (1:07.55). Shawn Denis won the 200 individual medley and the 500 freestyle. Dolan O’Malley claimed the win in the 100 butterfly and Samson Shinners took the win in the 100 backstroke.
Rhinelander (3-0 Great Northern) hosts Antigo on Thursday.
Girls’ basketball: Wausau East at Rhinelander, ppd.
The Rhinelander-Wausau East girls’ basketball game scheduled for Tuesday was postponed due to a scheduling conflict.
According to RHS activities director Brian Paulson, both schools had it listed that they were scheduled to host the matchup. The discrepancy was not caught until Tuesday afternoon, too late for Wausau East to make the trip north. It was Rhinelander’s turn to host as Wausau East hosted the Hodags in non-conference play last season.
The game has been rescheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 16 in Rhinelander.
The Hodags (5-2, 3-0 Great Northern) host Tomahawk on Friday.
Full reports will be published in Friday’s River News.
