Edward “Ed’ Joseph Wick

Wick
Wick

Edward Joseph Wick, a very loving and loved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, peacefully passed away Nov. 10, 2023. He was at home surrounded by family.

Ed was a lifetime resident of Sugar Camp, born on Sept. 27, 1953, to Edward C. and Patricia I. (Pitlik) Wick. He spent his younger days helping his Grandma Rena and playing with family and friends at Pitlik’s Sand Beach Resort. He attended Three Lakes High School and Nicolet College. Ed knew from the age of 13 he would devote his life to the development of Pitlik and Wick. He was very proud of the work he did as a crusher foreman/operator, knowing his product would enable P&W to produce the best highways and driveways in the area. He retired in 2018. The love of his life and best friend Kathie Tracy came into his life on June 21, 1975. They married, May 22, 1976. God blessed him with three beautiful daughters, Erica, Tracy, and Kirstie. By choice he added Kieran M. Saffia to his family. The son he never had.

Ed enjoyed, so much in life. He embraced each moment as if it was his last. He strived to build memories with family and friends. It was the journey that was important to him. The comradery and storytelling. He taught his girls and grandsons all he knew about hunting and fishing. He raced snowmobiles in his youth and shared that passion with Erica and Tracy. He loved watching sports. The Packers of course, but more of Kirstie and the boys. He was so proud to sit on the sidelines and cheer them on. He traveled with family exploring the world. All along the way, building memories. Ed loved storytelling most. He could go on and on. Often, embellishing along the way. At some point you would wonder how much was true, and how much was not. You would question at times if any of it was the truth. You couldn’t tell by looking at him. Ed wore a poker face. All embellishment was done in fun as he felt storytelling made life worthwhile. He thoroughly enjoyed reminiscing and building memories along the way.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Ed, and Patsy (Pitlik) Wick and his daughter, Tracy Ellen Wick.

Ed is survived by his wife of 47 years, Kathleen (Kathie Tracy) Wick. His daughters, Erica Wick (Kevin Cibulka) and Kirstie (Christopher) Lechelt, as well as his chosen son Kieran M. Saffia. His grandchildren, Lance Corporal Kieran E. Saffia, Sean Saffia, Charles Johnson, and Amelia Lechelt. His brothers, Tom Wick (Nancy Schneider), Scott (Melissa) Wick, Bart (Terri) Wick and brother-in-law, Terence (Kathleen) Tracy. Along with many nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.

The visitation for Ed will take place from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 11, 2023, at the Hildebrand Funeral Home. There will be a Parish Prayer Service at 7 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 12, 2023, at St. Kunegunda of Poland Catholic Church located at 6895 Hwy. 17 Sugar Camp, with visitation at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of the mass. Fr. Ron Serrao and Dn. Al Goodrich will officiate.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Hildebrand Funeral Home & Cremation Specialists, 24 E. Davenport Street, Rhinelander, Wisconsin, 54501, 715-365-4343. Everyone is invited to sign the guestbook or leave an online condolence at www.hildebrandrussfh.com.
