Name released in Vilas County fatal accident

The name of the Eagle River man who died on Nov. 15 in a one-vehicle crash on Sundstein Road in the town of Lincoln has been released.

Vilas County authorities stated last week that Samuel W. Brown, 34, died as a result of the crash.  

According to the initial Vilas County Sheriff’s Office press release, authorities received a 911 call shortly after 8 p.m. Nov. 15 reporting the accident. Once on scene, deputies found a 2004 GMC Yukon had struck a tree and was in the roadway. Brown was pronounced dead at the scene. 

In the initial report, Lt. Jeff Schaub of the Vilas County Sheriff’s Office noted that Brown, “was traveling at a high rate of speed southbound on Sundstein Road when he lost control and struck a tree.”
