John F. Finch

John F. Finch, age 82, of Rhinelander, died Nov. 23, 2023, at the Aspirus Rhinelander Hospital. He was born on Feb. 9, 1941 in Wilton, the son of Francis and Enola (Weiss) Finch. He attended schools in the Tomah school district.

He married the former Jean Neitzel Feb. 9, 1961 in Pine City, Minn. and they were blessed with over 62 years of marriage. They moved to Rhinelander in 1966 and have lived here since.

In Rhinelander, John worked for Moritz Tires, A-1 Septic and then was self employed as a painter and mechanic in auto repair. He retired in 2003. In his free time he enjoyed hunting and fishing and tinkering with anything mechanical, wood or metal. He was a Jack of all trades. He also enjoyed telling jokes and making people laugh. One of his favorite things to do was feeding people, in particular, his homemade beef jerky.

John is survived by his wife Jean, his daughters Wendy (Daniel) Kuckkahn and Lori (Timothy) Wells, his grandchildren Ashley, Jason, Austin, Tyler, Anna, Nicole and Christopher, his twelve great grandchildren, his sister Lynette (Vern) Koch, nieces, nephews and many friends. He was preceded in death by his son Timothy, his infant daughter Susan, his parents, his brothers Wayne and Gary and his stepdad Robert Koch.
