Land O’Lakes man killed in Newbold motorcycle crash

A Land O’Lakes man died Saturday, Aug. 19 from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident in Newbold.

According to a press release from the Oneida County sheriff’s office, the dispatch center received a report of the crash on State Highway 47 near the intersection of Bridge Road in the Town of Newbold at around 6:15 p.m. Saturday evening. 

It was reported that the male operator of the motorcycle, later identified as Nathan Holoubek, 36, was traveling southbound between 80 and 100 miles per hour and passing in a no passing zone. The press release states Holoubek failed to negotiate a curve, was ejected from the motorcycle, and was unresponsive. Witnesses began life-saving measures prior to first responders’ arrival, but Holoubek was pronounced dead at the scene. 

Based on witness statements and observation, speed and alcohol were factors, the release states.
