Emmie Curby Johnson

Emmie Curby Johnson, age 94, of Rhinelander, died on August 2, 2023, at Rennes Health and Rehabilitation.

She was born on April 28, 1929, in Rhinelander, the daughter of Elmer and Mayme Curby.

Emmie grew up in Rhinelander and graduated from Rhinelander High School. She worked various jobs that started with the Friendly Village as a CNA and then for Twist Drill up until her retirement. She enjoyed sewing and spending time outside gardening. Emmie also volunteered for the Newbold Fire Department and was a Lioness in Rhinelander.

On January 28, 1950, Emmie married Vernon Johnson and they shared many wonderful years together until his passing on April 3, 1978.

Emmie is survived by her daughter Cheryl Hochstetler (Jeff), her son Brian (Dawn) Johnson, her three grandchildren, her four great-grandchildren, other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Vernon, and her siblings Elmer Curby, Ralph Curby, Evie Curby, Beatty Curby and Florence Miller.

Visitation for Emmie will be held on Wednesday, August 9, 2023, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Carlson Funeral Home.
