Frank Pudlowski, 73, of the Town of Pelican, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, July 29, 2023, with his family at his side.

Frank was born in Chicago. on Oct. 25, 1949, to Donald and Lorraine (Petru) Pudlowski. He was a 1967 graduate of Argo Community High School in Summit, Illinois. Upon completion of high school, Frank enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps where he specialized in radio communications, and proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. While in the Marines Frank received a Sharpshooter Award. He had been employed with Union Carbide as a machinist in Chicago until moving to the Northwoods in 1980 to help his parents run the Lake George Resort. Frank was employed as a machinist at Twist Drill, working there until the company closed. He then attended Nicolet College, graduating with a degree in HVAC. He was then employed for nine years with L & M Heating and Cooling before finally retiring. 

Frank loved living on Lake George. He enjoyed feeding and watching the squirrels, birds, ducks and could feed the chipmunks right from his hand. He loved playing cards and working on projects with his friends, listening to blues night on WXPR, and the fish fries and lava cake from Fisher’s.

Frank was a longtime member of the Lake George Community Club, where he formed many friendships.

He is survived by his sister, Shirley (Bob) Ericson of Minong, brothers, John (Sue) Pudlowski of Neenah, and Jack (Debbie) Pudlowski of Worth, Ill., and his sister, Bonnie Wittrock of Minong. Also surviving, sisters-in-law, Doreen Pudlowski of Alsip, Ill., and Dawn Moody of Ash Flat, Ark. He will be dearly missed by his nieces, nephews, and many dear friends, especially Theresa, Dave and Dave’s dog Delilah. 

Frank is preceded in death and greeted in heaven by his parents, Donald and Lorraine Pudlowski, and by two brothers, Robert “Bob” Pudlowski and Donald “Skip” Pudlowski.

The visitation for Frank will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2023, at the Hildebrand Funeral Home, from 9:30 a.m. until the noon funeral service. Chaplain John Uhlarik will officiate.

Immediately following the funeral service, there will be a procession to Northwoods National Cemetery for the committal service. Military honors will be conducted by the Northwoods Honor Guard and by two representatives from the United States Marine Corps. A luncheon will be held at the Pelican Fire Station following the conclusion of the service. 

 In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in honor of Frank may be given to the Wounded Warrior Project, or to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. These were two organizations that Frank supported.
