Fatal boating accident in Forest County

A 30-year-old Milwaukee man died in a boating-related accident on Pine Lake in the Town of Hiles, according to the Forest County sheriff’s office.
At approximately 4:04 p.m. Saturday, July 29, the Forest County Dispatch Center received several 911 calls reporting an accident involving a boat and a jet-ski on Pine Lake in the Township of Hiles, the sheriff’s office said in a press release issued Tuesday morning.
“It was reported that the two vessels collided while operating out in the lake where the operator of the jet-ski was knocked off the jet-ski and was unconscious in the water,” the release said. “The subject was brought to shore where life-saving measures were administered. The jet-ski operator was identified as a 30-year-old male from Milwaukee. Despite life-saving measures, the operator of the jet-ski succumbed to his injuries. The operator of the involved boat was identified as his 27-year-old brother from Stevens Point. The names of the subjects involved are being withheld at this time in respect for the family. The accident is currently under investigation by the Wisconsin DNR and the Forest County Sheriff’s Department.”
