The Hodag boys outpaced Medford 119-75 for the win while the Hodag girls edged Medford by 11 points (88 1/2-77 1/2) for the title. Three Lakes and Antigo also attended.
The Hodag boys won 11 events on Monday, led by eighth grader Eric Parish, who swept first place in the shot put and the discus. Avrom Barr scored the win in the long jump and was on the winning 4x800-meter relay team with Michael Tredupp, Dean Gillingham and Austen Slette. The Hodags took the top seven spots in the 110-meter hurdles, led by Jaxon West. Marshal Durkee won both the high jump and the 400-meter dash. Damian Burkeland led a 1-2 finish in the 200 with Renin Craig while Amos Bergman won the 100 and Cooper Saari took the 200-meter hurdles.
The Hodag girls won three of the four relays races on the day. The team of Kara Monk, Shyanne Hueckstaedt, JaLyn LaChapelle and Aubryn Clark took the 4x100; Macy Myers, Karly Gillingham, Aleece Johnson and Alexis Beran won the 4x200 and Lucy Eddy, Teagan Clark, Olivia Ruetz and Johnson won the 4x400. Individually, Eddy won both the 100 and the 400, Ruetz led a 1-2-3 finish in the 200 and Johnson claimed the 800. Gillingham added a win in the long jump.
The event was the first of three home meets scheduled for the Hodags this spring, culminating with the Wisconsin Valley Conference middle school meet May 18.
