Iris, except for the past four years living in Rhinelander, was a lifelong resident of Monico, with her retirement years living in Pompano Beach, Fla.; returning to Monico for the summer months. She spent the first years of marriage at home caring for her children along with years working as the Monico Town Treasurer, with her last 22 years, prior to retirement, working for Triumph Twist Drill.
Iris was a person that never sat on the sidelines when a project had to be done. She was always the first one to get involved whether it was church activities, fundraisers, town projects, Florida Condo Association tasks or political activities. She was an avid Packers and Brewers fan. She also had a passion for local baseball, pitching for teams on various softball leagues, coaching both youth and adult teams along with many hours attending games and tournaments.
Iris was a kind caring Christian woman who loved having a house full of family and friends. She would never turn anyone away no matter what the situation. Her home and heart were open to all. One of her yearly activities, since 1977, was being a part of the Stevens Family Reunion. She thoroughly enjoyed her time with family and was very proud of the many years the Stevens family has gathered, frequently speaking to others about the importance of family reunions.
Iris is survived by two daughters, Pamela (John) Barlowski of Rhinelander and Gerilyn (William) Stefonik of Rhinelander; two sons Omer (Heather) Lundt III of Rhinelander and Ronald (Wendy) Lundt of Monico; 19 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lois Arnold of Anchorage, Alaska and Fayne (Larry) Diegel of Rhinelander; two brothers, Tom Stevens of Pompano Beach, Fla., and Harry (Shirley) Stevens of Deer Park, Texas; three sisters-in-law, Mary Statezny (Jim), Elcho; Shirley Stevens, Merrill; and Janet Stevens, Elkhorn; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sisters, Joan Bessa and Ruth Bahl; four brothers: Patrick Stevens, Michael Stevens, Jerry Stevens and Dennis Stevens.
The family would like to thank Dr. Thomas Marren, Aspirus Rhinelander Clinic, for the excellent medical care she received and Compassus Hospice for the support provided which allowed us the opportunity to keep our Mom at home for her end of life care.
Visitation for Iris was held on Thursday, April 27, 2023 from 9 to 11 a.m., with the memorial services following at 11 a.m., all at the Carlson Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Monico Cemetery at a later date. You may leave your private condolences for the Lundt family at www.carlsonfh.com.
