RHS alum Bixby earns WIAC pitcher of the week honors

On Tuesday, Rhinelander High School grad Isaac Bixby, a sophomore on the UW-Platteville baseball team, was named the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Conference (WIAC) pitcher of the week for April 10-16, the conference announced in a press release.

Bixby needed only 98 pitches to toss a complete game against UW-Eau Claire on April 15. He threw 72% of his pitches for strikes and allowed just one unearned run in the victory. Bixby scattered five hits and one walk in the win, and struck out 10 Blugold hitters. Bixby is currently 3-2 on the season for the Pioneers with a 3.99 ERA and 32 strikeouts over 38 1/3 innings.

Bixby was not the only former Hodag up for recognition in the WIAC this past week. UW-Stevens Point senior Bradley Comer and UW-Whitewater junior Jacob DeMeyer were both nominated for position player of the week honors that ultimately went to UW-Eau Clare's Walter Johnson.

Comer is hitting a team-best .389 with four home runs and 25 RBIs so far this spring for the Pointers. DeMeyer is hitting .427 with two home runs and 22 RBIs for the Warhawks.
