Her family moved to Antigo where Elaine attended schools, graduating from Antigo High School. On June 5, 1948 she married Donald Emmer at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Antigo. They were blessed with nearly 46 years together before Don preceded her in death on April 16, 1994.
After their marriage Elaine and Don moved to Rhinelander where she has lived since. She worked as a hairstylist for a short period of time and then focused on raising her family. She will be remembered by her family as a great mother and a great cook. After her kids were grown she volunteered in Rhinelander with RSVP, the Logging Museum and with the St. Mary's Hospital Auxillary. She enjoyed bowling, doing needlework and playing games, especially Canasta, Rap and Uno. She loved her bird Sparky and she enjoyed her daily walks in the hallways which gave her the opportunity to visit with her neighbors.
Elaine is survived by her daughters Cathy (John) Lashua, Donna Levknecht, Helen (Jim) Wrasman and Karen (Al) Marquardt, her sons Lee (Sue) Emmer, Tom Emmer and Randy (Vicky) Emmer, 18 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, her sister Jean St. Aubin, other family and friends.
In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by her parents, her grandson James, her great-grandson Dakota, her son-in-law Pete Levknecht, her sister Phyllis Morrow and her brother Bob Fondow.
Visitation for Elaine will be held on Friday, April 21, 2023 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Carlson Funeral Home. Graveside services and interment will follow the visitation at the Northland Memorial Park Cemetery. You may leave your private condolences for the Emmer family at http://www.carlsonfh.com.
